Common Questions about Laser Treatments for Tattoos

May 13th, 2009

Some of our clients are very familiar with laser treatments for tattoos. They’ve read a number of websites (including our own informative site as well!), they’ve watched some tattoo removal videos, and have talked about it with friends and family. Many of these potential tattoo removal patients will still have a few questions. Here are a few that we’d like to briefly answer:

(1) What sort of laser is used at New Look in Dallas?

We use a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. This is a scientific set of designations that mean a couple of important things. First, q-switching means that the laser has a very fast pulse that allows a great deal of energy to be used in the treatment in a very short amount of time. The benefit of this is that we are able to shatter the ink in your tattoo without causing the transfer of heat to the rest of your skin. Second, Nd:YAG refers to the crystal inside the laser that is used to created certain wavelengths of light. The Nd:YAG crystal createsa 1064nm wavelength and we also use a 532nm wavelength to remove a wide variety of colors. If you have black, red, brown, purple, pink, orange, or many other colors in your tattoo we’ll be able to remove it. Green and blue are difficult colors.

One important point to note is that our laser is used exclusively for laser tattoo removal - it is all that we do and the procedure that our machine lives to perform every day!

(2) How do you numb the skin before the laser treatment for tattoo removal?

We use the Zimmer Cryo 6 - an advanced and very useful epidermal cooling system. The machine will blow cold air on your skin and numb your skin in a short time without the discomfort or nervousness many of us associate with needles. It’s a great tool and one that many of our patients love!

Investment Opportunity in Laser Tattoo Removal

March 16th, 2009

For private investors looking to take advantage of one of the fastest-growing submarkets in the cosmetic surgery field - laser tattoo removal - New Look Laser Tattoo Removal offers a well-managed and profitable pure play with strong prospects for growth.

Investment opportunities in laser tattoo removal are somewhat limited. Publicly-traded laser manufacturers generate only a small portion of their revenue from tattoo removal systems and many of their stocks have been severely punished during the credit crisis and as smart money moves away from these investments. Conventional wisdom holds the market for hair removal, skin resurfacing, and vascular lasers is saturated and if anything, consolidation rather than organic growth will be the futures for these players.

New Look Laser Tattoo Removal is a chain of speciality clinics that offers an opportunity for investment in laser tattoo removal. These Houston and Dallas area clinics are profitable, growing, and well-managed by two Harvard-educated medical entrepreneurs. For those seeking to make an investment (angel funding, other equity investments, convertible debt, etc.), inquiries should be directed to New Look’s president, Ryan Lambert at 713.292.6836 or info@newlookdallas.com

What colors are best for laser tattoo removal?

February 9th, 2009

Thanks for visiting the website of New Look Laser Tattoo Removal - the most popular and respected Dallas laser tattoo removal clinic.

Patients often ask about our ability to remove certain colors of tattoo ink. For most of them, we at New Look Laser Tattoo Removal have great news. But for a few, we aren’t able to tell them that we can remove their tattoo completely. Here’s a breakdown of the colors of tattoo ink and how easily they can be removed:

Easiest colors of tattoos to remove:

Black
Red

Able to remove, but sometimes not as easy:

Purple
Brown
Pink
Yellow
Orange

Very difficult to remove completely:

Green
Blue
White

Here’s why some colors are easier for laser tattoo removal and some colors are harder. Tattoo removal lasers generate light with different wavelengths. These wavelengths are absorbed by different colors of tattoo ink. Certain wavelengths correspond with black, some with red, some with purple, and some with blue, etc. The wavelengths most common in high-end tattoo removal lasers, like the Affinity QS used at New Look Laser Tattoo Removal, is able to handle just about every color except for blue and green. We are able to fade blue and green tattoos somewhat, but very rarely can we remove these colors completely. For other colors, though, we are able to do a great job.

Please give New Look - the specialist in Dallas laser tattoo removal - a call at 214.632.6300 to schedule a free consultation.
